During the business summit on March 20, 2008, I was able to listen to Brother Simmons speak. He talked about Apollo Real Estate, investing, and the competitive advantages of working with this company, such as focus on increasing cash flow, investing in major markets, primary property types, realistic underwriting and experienced operating partners. Then, at the end, he spoke on how to find jobs better. He mentioned networking as a big part, whether through family, friends, church, or whatever it be.
I really enjoyed the part of this that went over networking and finding jobs. Brother Simmons mentioned that employers hire people. They hire people that they like. He also said that it's not about how smart you are, it's how much you are liked and like others that helps you get an advantage in a career. Some other good things he said were that we need to work hard and smart, have faith, be likable, look for opportunities and to expect good things. A pretty good talk filled with good advice.
